Meet Kiri, the Japanese Firetruck
Hi. I’m Kiri.
I’m a 1990 Daihatsu Hijet fire truck from 霧ヶ峰, or Kirigamine, a tiny town in the mountains of Nagano Prefecture, Japan. I’m a 4 wheel drive truck powered by a 660cc, 3-cylinder gas engine hidden underneath my front seats. I like steep hills and rough terrain. I served for almost 30 years with the Kirigamine volunteer fire brigade. In 2019, after I retired from Japanese fire service, I was adopted by an American host family in San Francisco. My new home is very different, but I am enjoying my California lifestyle.
